Known for its historical events the small town of Uttarpara Kotrung lies in the Hoogly district. It is situated along the banks of River Ganga. Geography of Uttarpara Kotrung
Uttarpara Kotrung is located at south-eastern tip of the district of Hooghly. Geographically its location is 22.67°N 88.35°E and the average elevation is 52 feet (15 meters). The canal which is popularly known as Balli Khal is the boundary between the town of Uttarpara Kotrung and Howrah District. Climate in Uttarpara Kotrung experiences extreme climate. During the summer months which are usually between March to June, the town faces very hot and humid climate. few days in Uttarpara Kotrung. Aurobindo Ghosh who is the founder of
the famous Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry, had given a famous speech in
the year 1909 before going to Pondicherry. This speech is famously
known as the "Uttarpara Kotrung Speech" and is considered very important
as it helps in understanding Sanatan dharma and Hinduism.
